The recipients of the policy proposals include the European Commission, Ministries of Labor, Health, Interior, Local Government Organizations, various NGOs, and more.

Research “Working and living conditions of posted workers in Greece and Bulgaria”

The research focuses on the labor rights of posted workers in Greece and Bulgaria. It was commissioned by EPEKSA and carried out in 2011 by the European Institute-EI in Bulgaria as part of the program “Exchange of experiences and best practices for posted workers.” It was published in English in the EPEKSA Research Papers series.

Field Research “The posting of workers in Greece. Case study of posted workers for infrastructure construction at Hellenic Petroleum (HELPE) in Thessaloniki”

The research was conducted by EPEKSA in 2011 as part of the program “Exchange of experiences and best practices for posted workers.” It focuses on the problems that arose at HELPE Thessaloniki from the work of posted foreign workers and the efforts of the Ministry of Labor and trade unions to prevent the undermining of labor rights. The scientific director was Efstathios Tikos. It was published in both Greek and English in the EPEKSA Research Papers series.

Research “The Illegal Work in Europe”

The research was carried out in 2010 by European think tanks DIESIS and POUR LA SOLIDARITET on behalf of the Scientific Society as part of the European program “Combating Undeclared Work.” Presented at the international seminar “Undeclared work, migration, crisis. Policy responses and social rights,” the research analyzes policies to combat illegal work of migrants in various European countries and proposes solutions. Research proposals, such as the use of vouchers to combat undeclared domestic work, were adopted by Greek legislation. It is published in English and Greek in the EPEKSA Research Papers series.

Research “The role of NGOs and Third Sector entities in combating social exclusion of vulnerable social groups”

This research, based on a questionnaire filled out by Greek NGOs active in the field of social exclusion, was conducted by EPEKSA and the NGO PRAKSIS in 2009 as part of the European program “Cooperation for a Cohesive Society.” The research showed that while European social inclusion strategies and the implementation of the Open Method of Coordination (OMC) require the active role of NGOs and civil society in the planning and implementation of these strategies, this happens only to a limited extent in Greece. Social NGOs established to help various vulnerable social groups in the process of social inclusion do not participate in shaping this policy.

Study “Child protection in Greece and the development of a strategic action plan for the horizontal coordination of agencies involved in child protection”

The EPEKSA study was commissioned by the NGO “The Smile of the Child.” It was promoted to the Ministry of Health and served as a national strategic action plan for child protection in Greece. It was conducted during the second half of 2008. The research, which was the first of its kind in Greece involving 500 agencies and organizations, as well as the corresponding strategic action plan and horizontal networking, was used by the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity to formulate national social protection policies for children. The scientific directors of the research were P. Altanis and C. Oikonomou. It was published in the EPEKSA Research Papers series as a volume titled “Action Plan for the Horizontal Networking and Coordination of Child Solidarity Services and Agencies” by the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity, Athens 2009.
